Words 2 Action Self-Advocacy Program in Central Queensland
Words 2 Action is an Information, Linkages and Capacity Building (ILC) program delivered by Aged and Disability Advocacy Australia known as ADA Australia.
Words 2 Action is a free self‑advocacy program for people with disability across Central Queensland, including Rockhampton, Gladstone, the Central Highlands and Biloela.
Words 2 Action helps people with disability build confidence, understand their rights, and communicate their needs effectively. Through practical tools and guided learning, the program empowers people to speak up and take an active role in decisions that affect their daily lives.
The program is client‑focused, confidential and free. At ADA Australia, we prioritise each person’s goals and preferences.
Words 2 Action Program
ADA Australia’s Words 2 Action program supports people with disability in Rockhampton, Gladstone, the Central Highlands and Biloela to build the skills and confidence to speak up, understand their rights, and effectively communicate their needs. Our team works alongside participants to help them navigate everyday challenges, express their preferences, and ensure their voices are heard.
Navigating services and the systems people with disability require can be overwhelming. Words 2 Action is designed to make this easier by helping people understand their options, prepare for conversations or meetings, and advocate for themselves.
Words 2 Action will help you learn about your rights, how to speak up for yourself and to be heard when dealing with those things or people that are important in your life, like:
- your carers
- the NDIS
- where you live
- your money
- your job or getting a job
- your doctor
- your family and friends
The program includes information sessions on a range of topics relevant to people with disability and their families and carers, and also offers free individual coaching. Our experienced and friendly disability advocates will work directly with you to coach you through addressing a specific issue you may be having.
